10 Benefits of Rebounding in the Bedroom

10 Reasons to Rebound in the Bedroom

It was after my first major breakup that I discovered the power of rebounding. Ha! It’s not what you think. I’m not here to give relationship advice (not today at least); rather, I’m here to teach you about the power of jumping on a mini-trampoline (aka rebounding)! This great form of aerobic exercise can even be done in the convenience and privacy of your own bedroom 🙂

I’m all about you finding an exercise regimen that you consider fun. Whether it be yoga, barre, dance, zumba, pilates, etc., I am a firm believer that you can find a way to move your body in such a way that you forget that you’re “working out”. One of these fun methods that I’ve used for the last few years has been rebounding.

At some point in your life, chances are that you’ve jumped on a trampoline. You probably had fun, but did you realize the health benefits that you were tapping into as you bounced up and down?! Among other things, you were…

  1. Stimulating and improving your lymphatic and immune systems
  2. Increasing muscle tone throughout your entire body
  3. Improving your posture, balance, and coordination
  4. Increasing your bone mass
  5. Protecting your joints
  6. Helping improve your digestion and…

Five More Pranayama (Breathing) Exercises!

Breathe Deeply
Quotes
  • “Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.” ~ L. Frank Baum
  • “Smile, breathe and go slowly.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
  • “That breath you just took… that’s a gift.” ~ Rob Bell
  • “Inhale, and God approaches you. Hold the inhalation, and God remains with you. Exhale, and you approach God. Hold the exhalation, and surrender to God.” ~ Krishnamacharya
  • “When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath.” ~ Hatha Yoga Pradipika
Five More Pranayama/Breathing Exercises!

  1. Square Breathing: When most people think of breathing, they think of inhaling and exhaling. What they don’t realize is that there are two…

18 Ways Yoga Changed My Life

The term “yoga” is a Sanskrit word that means “union” or “to join”. This refers to the union of body, mind, and spirit (pretty holistic, right?). Yoga is a 5,000 year old system that analyzes everything from conduct and philosophy to breath and meditation. Though most Westerners turn to yoga for relaxation and its other health benefits, the ultimate aim of yoga is something much bigger. Through the process of purifying our thoughts and actions, yoga gives us a clear path to attain bliss, peace, and self-realization. This practice is very near and dear to me because it’s radically transformed my life from the inside out.

18 Ways Yoga Changed My Life
Among other things, yoga has helped me to decrease stress and anxiety, increase my range of motion, boost my immune system, improve my posture, heal injuries, and learn how to really concentrate. After five years of practicing yoga, you might imagine that I have developed more strength, flexibility, and balance as a result. And I have, but in more holistic ways than you…

Are you aware of the importance of oral health? As Dr. Sanda Moldovan plainly states on the front page of her website, “Your mouth is the gateway to your health.” In an interview, Dr. Moldovan expanded on this concept by saying, “When we improve oral health, we improve so many other things in the body. People with bad oral hygiene have higher incidence for cardiovascular issues such as heart attack and strokes, and a higher incidence for pneumonia. Men with periodontal disease have a greater risk of erectile dysfunction. Even with diabetes, improved oral health can help control problems in diabetic patients. Also, pregnant women with gum disease have lower birth-weight babies. Yes — everything is connected.”

Now that you know that, maybe you won’t consider me crazy when you discover how seriously I take my own dental hygiene. My typical routine is to floss, oil pull,…

Dry Brushing 101
Following our Ayurvedic theme, this week I want to introduce you to dry brushing (also called “skin brushing” or “body brushing”). This is a self-care practice that promotes the health of our skin (and so much more). Did you know that our skin is actually the largest organ in our body? Yes, that’s right, I’m here to inform you that your skin is an organ. More specifically, it’s an organ of elimination. (Approximately one-third of our body’s toxins are excreted through the skin!) This is big news, and one reason that we should really value the health of our skin. An easy way to do that is through dry brushing.

When purchasing a brush, you have several options. Rather than getting the gloves or the short-handled brush, I recommend you buy one of the brushes that has a long handle (this will make it easier to get to those hard-to-reach parts of your back). Once you’ve made that initial purchase…
